Happy New Year !!!..... Bring on 2011

I would like to wish everyone a safe and Happy New Year. We are keeping it low key this year, hubs needs to work. So its just going to be me and the 4-year old. So I am thinking our night will be consisting of......

Pizza, Popcorn and Redbox Movies

and after the 4 year old goes to bed.......

a couple of Crantini's for Me
1 Cup of Cranberry Juice
1/4 Cup of Orange Juice
1/2 Cup of Vodka
1 teaspoon of real lime juice

shake with ice and serve with a garnish of lime.
I made these on Christmas and even the Hubs liked them !!!!

Jenn over at Tatertots and Jello posted a few yummy dip recipes and I left her one too but wanted to share it here. I'm not sure what it is called but it is delicious !!!
Layer in a pie dish (our whatever you have handy) Bake at 350 degrees
1 block of cream cheese
1 jar of salsa
1 bag of shredded Mexican cheese
(Now I just eye the layers with the salsa and cheese and add more or less)
Pop it in the oven and let cheese melt and get bubbly. Serve with Tortilla Chips.
Enjoy !!!!!!

Happy 2011 !!!!!

Am I up for an Organization Challenge?.....

I can not believe that 2010 is pretty much over. Where did it go ??? This year has been with its ups and downs (mainly downs) and I am just trying to "get it together". I have always worked outside the home and now I find myself being a SAHM which I do love (most of the time...lol) but I just can't seem to get myself motivated to get things in order, get things done, and even some days just getting myself together (I do love my yoga pants) So now with 2011 coming up I need to start disciplining myself in order to keep sanity in my household and myself.

My first step is to take on a challenge. I found Toni at "A bowl full of Lemons" about a month ago and have fallen in love with her blog.

 Here's the CHALLENGE!

Starting on January 1st and lasting 21 days (except on Sundays)... Every morning I will post a daily challenge for you to do. You will then have until the next day to complete the challenge (or longer if you need), and then check back here and link up your post to my blog for everyone to see (lots of pictures are a plus). Thats it! Simple eh? I promise they will be easy challenges. It's only 3 weeks... you can do it! You will be so happy you did.

Wish me luck !!!!!
Come on over and check the progress everyone makes.

Happy Holidays

After a day of running around and having a family day we are home and getting ready for the arrival of the big guy. The 4 year old is so excited I am praying that she'll actually go to bed tonight. I still need to wrap all her presents (ugh) I have had them all hidden and I didn't want to pull them all out and then have to hide them again (I seem to do this every year...lol...I need to wrap then hide) I have had a wonderful time with this blog and reading others. The ideas have been overwhelming and well I bookmarked alot. Thank you for all your support and have a wonderful, safe, and happy holiday weekend.

Snowman Kidnapping....

I woke up this morning to find the the 4 year old had kidnapped my Snowman Pillow and would not give it back unless I made her one too. OK honey Mommy can do that. So we picked out out fabric and buttons and got started. Then she says that she doesn't want a pillow she wants a Snowman Toy. A Toy ???. Umm well OK honey Mommy will see what she can do (as I roll my eyes and think now what) So with the help of alot of craft sticks ( I think a painter's stick would be great for this but I didn't have any) A Snowman Toy was made.....

She is happy but.........

Now she is asking for a hat for him....ugh !!!

My Snowman Pillow is back on the chest where he belongs.
And I'm happy too.

Makeover Madness

I found this at the Salvation Army a couple of weeks ago. It was marked $2.99 but it was half off day. So $1.50 wasn't to bad and I had plans for this guy.....big plans...........

Pretty right ? Got to love the cherries/tomatoes ??? painted on it.
Well after some sanding, patching, more sanding and a few coats of paint I was thrilled.

Ain't she pretty now, all dressed up the the Holidays

Dollar store battery operated candles

Free pine boughs and pine cones from the yard
I did the black oval with chalkboard paint, just need to decide what to write.

Don't mind the silver tea pot in the background, the 4 year old was having tea this afternoon with the "Snowman Pillow"
Yes she can be strange creative sometimes

So basically for under $5 I have a great centerpiece for my table.
Typically I would of just walk by this thing if I wasn't thinking "makeover"

Sharing ideas and pillows

I got a new follower today (yipppeee) and while I was looking at the ideas that she shared on her blog Alilily I totally fell in love with her rosette snowman (Yes I am addicted to snowmen) So after the 4 year old went to bed and the hubs left for a hockey game I got to crafting. I have been wanting to make some pillows to put on a chest (the 4 year old's toy box) that sits in my living room. So out came the sewing machine and ..........

Isn't he ADORABLE !!!!!!
I think I am in LOVE
It was so easy, I made 3 rosettes out of white felt and hot glued them out to my pillow. Added beads for the eyes, buttoned and some ribbon for his scarf. Still not sure if I want to add a nose or not.

Here his is sitting amongst the other pillows. LOVE LOVE LOVE
I also made the burlap ruffle one also tonight.
I now can check this off my list of things to do.

Happy Crafting !!!!

Catch a Glimpse Button

Lollipop Ornament

The 4-year old is obessed with lollipops and wanted to hang some from the christmas tree. I was worried about the idea because well I know her and she would sneak the lollipops off the tree to eat them so we I had to come up with a different idea. My tree is mainly county/folkart handmade or handmade looking ornaments so I wanted them to fit in. I dug through my craft supplies and came up with this idea.

Materials I used:
Small wooden circle
jute (from IKEA, love this stuff)
 craft paint and brush
craft stick
ribbon
hot glue gun

I painted the wooden circle red and the started gluing the jute from the center in circle form and kept going adding a bit of glue as I went until I came to the edge and them wrapped the edge with the jute also

I attached a craft stick and added a bow for the pop stick. I used fishing line for the hanger but you could use ribbon. I thought of wrapping it in cellophane also but I couldn't find mine. So now I have lollipops on our tree with no worries of the 4 year old eating them

This could work with yarn too. Just think of the colors. Might have to work on some more for next year for her tree thet I promised she could have....lol

Snowman Handprint

I found this great idea with tutorial over at Eighteen 25 and fell in love with it.  I thought it would make a great grandparent gift. I could not find the mini canvases that she used but I did find some unfinished wood plaques for .59 each that would work too. I had everything else on hand so this was not only inexpensive to do but fun with the 4 Year old too !!!! Here is my version......

I added some glitter to the snow using mod podge and lightly sprayed with a clear sealer. It would be fun to do these every year to see the difference with her handprint.

Whats not to love.....

This is the "4 year old"
The reason I get out of bed in the morning
The one that usually gets what she wants with this smile of hers
The one that knows Mommy will take her to the playground when its COLD outside
The one that calls our "Dining Room" our "Project Room" since thats where we create
The one that insist on wearing the flowers that Mommy makes and lets everyone knows that I make them
She'll be starting pre-school in January
and Mommy will finally have some quiet time without hiding in the bathroom.

Paper Ornament Banner

I have fallin in love with making these paper ornaments. I have fallin in love with banners. They are soooo easy. You can find a great tutorials all over. I plan on using these for gift tags this year but my hutch needed a little something. The hutch is other project completely top half is primed only but thats another story ;-)

All I used is scrapbook paper, stamp letters (sigh...no fancy machine here) and some ribbon. Plus your basic craft supplies. (I do own a small paper cutter and circle cutter so that helped )

Hmmm...Looking at these pictures I think I need to do something on top too.
The hutch is home right now to my Gingerbread dishes currently, they come out right after Thanksgiving and stay there until Valentine's Day.

Happy Creating
