Peat Pot Easter Basket

I have been getting ready for Easter slowly. I wanted to make some small baskets as gifts for people we will be visiting. I had picked up some peat pots for something else that didn't work out so I had them on hand. With some small paper doilies and ribbon I came up with a simple and easy idea. I think I am going to use these too for place cards for Easter Brunch.

I modge podge the paper doilies directly on the pot and let it dry.
(You could easily just paint them too)
Ruffled some ribbon and hot glued to the top edge of the pot.

I used a hole punch on the sides and threaded a piece of ribbon through to create a handle
(I didn't use a wired ribbon and it held up nicely)

Handstamped a tag and tied it on the side of the basket.
Filled with shredded paper and small plastic eggs filled with goodies.
A nice small and easy gift.

My Spring "Fantel"

I gave a sneak peak yesterday with my Spring Wooden Eggs that I made for my "Fantel". I can honestly say everything else I had or made with material that I had on hand. After ALOT of tweaking I think I know am in love with it.

I wanted to keep it more "Spring" than Easter so it will last longer. I might add a Easter Banner.

Now I do need to give credit to some wonderful other bloggers for some of the inspiration and ideas that I used to pull this together.

The printable is from A Simple Klassic Home. She designed this printable and is offering it for free on her blog. I added some background to it using the graphics that Sprik Space is offering.
I am loving the Chevron Stripes that are showing up everywhere.
(the yellow doesn't show up well in the picture but it looks great in person plus there are a TON of colors to choose from)
I love the simple saying.

Now these little blue birds are one of the simplest thing I have every made. There feet are just bent paperclips!!!!!! I know my flock is going to grow ALOT. I saw the idea over on Charcoal and Crayons. The possibilities are endless here.
I used a template I found {here} for my birdies.
There are 3 different sizes so you could make a family of birdies.

(Like my collage of pics?...been learning how to use Picnik, its so easy to understand and use)

Spring Wood Eggs

I have been working on my "Spring Fantle" today and well it just needs a little something more not sure what. I think after the 4 year old goes to bed I'll attack. But we did make this today for it and I love them.

I purchased some unfinished wood eggs at the The Millstore
Lightly sanded, panited and speckled them
I am loving the color. Robins Egg Blue.
I found some letter stickers on clearance at Micheals.
Easy peasy.

Meet my new friend......

I would like to introduce you to a new friend of mine. He is the quiet shy type (unlike the 4 year old). He came about pretty quick and I see more of his friends coming along soon. I would love to do a tutorial on him is anyone is interested. I found it was a great way to use some scraps.

Meet Twiggy the Owl

          He is my new pal

He likes to play peek a boo.

and hang out in the trees.

And even the 4 year old loves him

They have even played hide and go seek together

It was Twiggy's turn to count

Twiggy and some friends should be around soon. You see I am taking the leap and going to open up shop.
An Esty Shop.
(my biggest problem is what to feature.....I have alot swirling around in my head)
Things are still in the works and I am shooting for May 1st but it looks like it might be more mid-May or June or ???? until it is fully up and running.
So that is it, one of my life changing things that are happening but there is more and you'll just have to wait for that one....he he he.

Under Construction....

My Blog might look a little strange for a couple of days. I am trying to "freshen" it up a bit. Don't worry I going to keep posting around it. I have a new friend I want to introduce this weekend so that post will be up soon. Have a fun weekend. Looks like we are finally going to get some warmer weather here.

Felt Tote Bag

I have been wanting to make a tote bag for awhile and have been looking at pattern after pattern and frankly they confuse me. I can sew but simple things. Straight things. Zippers frighten me. So last week I was blog hopping and came across something from Martha. A "Felt Shopping Tote" and I thought ok felt, I can work with that and for some reason I have ALOT of felt on hand. No idea why. I printed the pattern out and pieced it together. Pinned it to the fabric, cut it out, stitched it up and I got myself a tote.

Of course I had to add some bling to it. I rolled a bunch of flowers from cotton/poly blend fabric and attached them by sewing them on at first but after breaking about six needles because I had so much glue holding the flowers together I ended up glueing them on with a felt glue.
Now the bag is felt and I'm not sure actually how much stuff I could put in it.
I was thinking perhaps a couple of books to go back and forth from the library or running some errands (I hate plastic bags that stores give you)
I was thinking I might add some bias tape around the exposed edges and handles to give them some more stability. Overall I love it. Very simple to make. And the cost is small.

I recommend using a 72" wide felt and all you need is 1/2 a yard that way you won't have a seam on the handles but 1 yard of 36" wide felt would work too.
Embellish the tote before you stitch the front and back together. I was worried I would glue them together attaching the flowers.
I am thinking of trying another material perhaps something like a canvas, something that doesn't need the edges finished. Joann's had some real pretty outdoor canvas in stock last week. I have worked with it before and its quite durable and easy to work with.

Ain't she pretty ?????

Yes I eventually returned from Florida

Yes I eventually returned from Florida. Yes it was hard. Yes I didn't want to come back. Yes spending a week in 70 degree weather with sunshine everyday can do that to you. And yes I missed you guys !!!

Family Vacation = NO Blogging

So I'm back, well I have been back, lurking at everyone elses ideas and falling in love with so many I can't even think where to begin. I get inspired everyday.

Alot has been going on, big decisions are being made.
The kind that can shake up everything.
Unfortunately I can't share just yet.....we need to finalize some things.
Don't worry, I'll share soon.

Meanwhile I have been crafting and I have realized I haven't even started to decorate for Spring.
The snow we got yesterday hasn't helped the issue.
It was a nice April Fool's Day surprise....NOT
I'll post soon what I have been doing.

Yeah and my "Fantle" still has touches of Valentine's Day on it.
Need to fix that.

or the sharks might eat us.
